The Value of Belonging

Spending two years completing the ISHTA Yoga Teacher Training will always be one of the best choices I have made in my life. I value the knowledge and experiences I gained, but best of all is the community into which I was embraced. We remain a close community even though the course has come to an end. Quite often, once completing something with a group it marks the end of the relationship. I no longer am in touch with uni students with whom I studied nor workmates with whom I used to spend every day before moving on. This is through nobody’s fault. We simply moved on. Yoga is different.

Through yoga I have met people with whom to share a way of life! Moving on after the end of the teacher training course means moving on in step together regardless of which direction we each take. We have our WhatsApp group, we have formed a book club that meets every two months and also we have a once a month yoga group which gets together to sample different studios. This month they chose Axle Yoga! The feedback and insight they gave me was priceless.

Belonging to a community is so important for our well being. If you feel alone, do not doubt that there is a community out there for you. Walk out the door and join a group with a shared interest or activity. And remember, yoga is always here for you too and will give you the tools to support yourself in mind and body. We embrace you!
